You know those moments when your eyes take in something faster than your brain can process? It’s almost like when you drop a stone into a well and there is this time delay of expectant silence until it hits the water. Splash.
As I read the words that I had been nominated for a Libester Award for new bloggers, I could feel a definite pause whilst this information was processed, then emotion hit me with a blast. Yippee!
So firstly I must thank Michaela at This FP Planet or her nomination. It means a massive amount to me and I feel flattered that she has selected me out of a huge pool of awesome blogs out there. Please visit Michaela’s blog and show her love, as she is very deserving of her own award.
What is the Liebster Award?
The Liebster Award is given to bloggers by other bloggers. Its aim is to highlight cool blogs out there in the blogosphere for you to discover. It does this by asking the blogger to share answers to 11 questions about themselves and their blog, and then encourages them to nominate blogs deserving of the award. It is like an old fashioned chain letter that passes on warm and fuzzy feelings and allows bloggers to connect with new people.
So, without further ado, time to spill the beans about Meanderwithmeg.
What is the primary reason for starting your blog?
I wanted to share a little about my thoughts about travel, backpacking, life on the road and living a life a little less ordinary in general. How does it feel to be a female traveller? How does it feel to travel by yourself? I want to explore some of these themes in my blogs.
Blogging seems like a perfect way to do so and I hope that some people reading will find inspiration in my words to venture off travelling themselves.
How often do you post content on your blog?
I don’t really work to a strict schedule at the moment – in life at all, really! – but I try to post once every five to seven days. On some weeks this is easier to achieve, but when I am travelling I am of course limited to where I can access an internet connection and have the time to sit down and draft a blog.
Is there a story behind your blog name?
Apart from meander beginning with the letter ‘M’ and the alliteration therefore appealing to my inner word-nerd, I felt that it encapsulated my wandering spirit and therefore the tone of this blog. My main themes are travel and carving your own path through life, wherever that may take you, and I like the flexibility this word gives me to be able to write about pretty much anything I like!
Do you hire people for writing content/creating photography and videos?
My blog is in its infancy so I am enjoying the challenge of figuring it all out myself and finding my voice.
When you were young, what did you want to grow up to be?
This one comes as no surprise really: a children’s author and storybook illustrator. The vast majority of my teenage years were spent filling notebooks with endless, rambling stories. In adulthood, the only children’s story I have written was one about my pet chicken, Patches, who wore a red jumper. I really should dig that out sometime and have a re-read!
What motivates you to blog?
The pleasure I find in writing is probably my main drive, followed by the thought that someone – anyone – might end up reading something I’ve written and connect with it.
What is your ideal morning routine?
My ideal morning routine? Well, that would have to be waking up to a sunny day that will be spent in good company doing things I love, like exploring some place or another!
In reality, it would probably involve a large cup of tea and a delicious breakfast not cooked by me – I’m not a huge fan of cooking!
If you could have one superpower, what would it be?
Oh, when I was younger I would have definitely said flying as I loved Peter Pan!
What is your favourite country?
A difficult one to answer as I enjoy every country I visit for various reasons! Can I say New Zealand for its outrageous beauty and general awesomeness in just about every way, from the landscape to the weather to the lovely people?
Closely followed by my own birth country, England. You can’t beat the English countryside!
What is your favourite thing to do abroad?
I like birds eye views so I quite often find the tallest tower/landmark and get to the top of it! It’s a great way to admire your surroundings.
